Boycott! List Update #3

A very short post here. I’ve added Flight Centre to my Boycott! list.  See here, for the updated list page. In short, they shafted me once, by being very rude; and they are owned, at least in part, by a complete bastard. If you read my Boycott! page and think that there is something else I should add, or some reason that I’m wrong to boycott anything in particular, let me know! AsGrayAsGray Continue reading Boycott! Boycott! List Update #2

A very short post here. I’ve finally gotten around to adding Coca-Cola to my Boycott! list.  See this, here, for the updated list page. Coca-Cola: playing both sides of the great game since forever.  Coke loved Hitler almost as much as Henry Ford did… I can’t wait for the ban on boycotts that’s been talked about in Australia.  I guess I’ll be going to jail. Boycott, boycott, boycott. If you read my Boycott! page and think that there is something else I should add, or some reason that I’m wrong to boycott anything in particular, let me know! Boycott! List Update #1

I.  Have.  Finally.  Done It!! With the aid of my new little friend, the e-cigarette, I have, after 23 years of on again-off again tobacco smoking, kicked tobacco out of my life. It’s been 8 days since my last ‘traditional’ toxin-laden tobacco cigarette death machine. No, using an e-cig is NOT cheating.  I am brimming with confidence that my days as a ‘filthy smoker’ are over.  No other method has given me this confidence.  Nicotine patches made my heart palpitate like crazy.  Nicotine gum was so awful, that after a single taste I just knew it would never help.  Pharmaceutical … Continue reading Boycott! Black Power Day

One week ago (9 October) was the anniversary of Peter Norman‘s funeral in 2006 – a day that has been formally recognised by the US Track and Field Federation as Peter Norman Day, a day when Tommie Smith and John Carlos arrived from halfway around the world to deliver heartfelt tributes at Norman’s memorial service. Peter Norman was ostracised, dismissed, abused and overlooked for the rest of his days, after having stood side-by-side with Carlos and Smith … Continue reading Black Power Day

Boycott 101

I’ve wanted to build a comprehensive Boycott List for some time.  Recent news (see here, and here) that the new conservative government in Australia may seek to outlaw organised boycotts against corporate entities has inspired me to start work on this.  For those who may be unaware or interested, you can read about what a boycott is, here. My Boycott list appears on a special page here at Shit’s Gotta Stop.  It will be collated and built up over time – a live, living, breathing thing that will assist in fortifying my resolve to boycott the bastards wherever they appear. For what it’s … Continue reading Boycott 101
