Non-Reassuring Reading Regarding The Drumpfocracy

The various spheres into which I have antennae placed are ABUZZ right now.  There is a growing sense in some circles that the Drumpf Administration is a thinly-veiled administrative coup d’etat of the United States of America.  This is not … Continue reading Non-Reassuring Reading Regarding The Drumpfocracy

Even amerika’s turd-blossom, the renowned asshole that shilled for Buckaroo Bush the interminable Karl Rove, is a worrying serious worry that Trumpf can’t be stopped. The Trumpf most certainly can be stopped.… Continue reading soup for tuesday on weak-ass wednesday

I Love Guns

What a horribly inappropriate title for a blog post.  On a day such as it is…  Please bear with me. It’s true – I love guns.  I also fear them immensely. I’ve had the opportunity to ‘play’ with some guns at various junctures – L1A1, M-9, M-16, M-60, Steyr AUG (F88), blah, blah, blah. They are all marvellous devices.  Machining and engineering marvels.  Devastatingly efficient at what they were built to do.  An adrenaline buzz to hold and strip and clean and re-assemble.  And an unrivalled adrenaline super-rush to shoot. But they shouldn’t really even have to exist, for the … Continue reading I Love Guns

Paris: You Don’t Want to Read This

November 15, 2015 “Information Clearing House” –  You don’t want to read this, and I take no pleasure in writing it, and no one really wants to hear it right now. But I believe it needs to be said. I join the world in grieving for the dead in Paris. I have grieved for the dead from 9/11 forward — the Australians who died in terror attacks on Bali in 2002, Londoners who died in terror attacks in 2005, the French citizens who died in the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January of this year, the… Continue reading Paris: You Don’t Want to Read This

Nine Thoughts On the TPP Agreement Being Reached Today

Originally posted on Counter Information:
By Nick Dearden October 05, 2015 “Information Clearing House” – “Global Justice Now” – Stepping back from details, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is the biggest trade deal in a generation and part of the same ‘new generation’ of trade deals asTTIP. There are 12 countries involved across the Pacific Rim, including the USA, Japan, Canada and Australia. Like TTIP, it goes well beyond ‘trade’ in the narrow sense – its primary purpose is to rewrite global economic rules in favour of capital – and not just for the countries involved. Other countries already want to… Continue reading Nine Thoughts On the TPP Agreement Being Reached Today

The TPP: If it’s so Good, why is it so Secret?

Originally posted on The Gutter Trash:
From the interwebs… The TPP agreement is just another shot in the century long campaign by the US elites and multinationals to form the world in their image. As others have already said, the principal pre-occupation of those groups since before the end of the Second World War has been to prevent the emergence of any other power that might challenge the ability of the US to run the world in the interests of that group. That goal is reflected in thousands of US planning documents since that time. It has also been reflected… Continue reading The TPP: If it’s so Good, why is it so Secret?

Birthdays For Dead People

I find it bizarre that we ‘celebrate’ the birthdays of assassinated or otherwise deceased notable figures of recent history, rather than the assassination/death date. Yesterday (May 19) was Malcolm X Day.  Great.  That’s the day he was born.  But he was killed on February 21, torn open by 21 lumps of lead.  Why isn’t the observance day February 21? Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is another one – celebrated around MLK’s birthday (January 15).  Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to ‘celebrate’ the life of MLK on April 4, the day he was murdered? Hasn’t their life had more of an impact … Continue reading Birthdays For Dead People

Don’t Mention The B-1

Pentagon says B-1 On It’s Way To Australia. Then tiny tony says ‘No’, Then Pentagon says ‘Oops’. Link to news: Tony Abbott confirms US has no plans to send B-1 bombers to Australia, says defence official ‘misspoke’ As part of US ‘defense’ actions, a lot of Marines and their assorted hangers-on are soon to be based in Darwin. A statement issued overnight by the Assistant US Defense Secretary clearly stated, “We will be placing additional air force assets in Australia as well as B-1 bombers and surveillance aircraft”. Some people, mostly from China, and a good handful from Australia as well, got … Continue reading Don’t Mention The B-1

Free West Papua

Australia’s closest geographical neighbour is the world’s second-largest island, New Guinea.  The eastern half of this island is the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, and the western half is West Papua, now consisting of two Indonesian provinces. In 1975, Papua New Guinea was declared independent after decades of overlapping German, British, and Australian administration, and the post-war union of the Papua and New Guinea territories in 1949. In the same year, The Dutch attempted to leave behind an independent West Papuan nation when departing the region after 149 years of colonial rule.  Indonesia, however, claimed rights of sovereignty over West … Continue reading Free West Papua
